Isaac Land received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan–Ann Arbor in 1999. After teaching in inner-city Detroit and the rural South, he came to Indiana State University in 2005 and is now an Associate Professor. His book War, Nationalism, and the British Sailor, 1750-1850 was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2009. He writes The Coastal History Blog for Port Towns and Urban Cultures project.
