Kelsey Power is a PhD candidate in the War Studies department at King’s College London studying under Dr. Alan James. She received her BA in Fine Art at Bryn Mawr College in the U.S. in 2012. She briefly worked on a sailboat before travelling abroad for her MA degree at King’s in War Studies, which she completed in 2014. She spent the last two years working in museums in London.
Kelsey’s research interests are varied and influenced by her love of classical European art and architecture, film, literature, and pop culture. Her work focuses on the experience of prisoners of war during the Napoleonic period, examining social behaviours through the lens of the cultural conceptions of honour. She is also intrigued by the history of masculinity and gender, consumption, and when she’s feeling morbid; diseases and epidemics.
