Jane Bowden-Dan BA MSC DIC, a law graduate and solicitor, was an Academic Secretary on the Guy’s Hospital campus of King’s College London. She left in 2003 to write, and spend time in France, having studied for an MSc in the History of Medicine at Imperial College and the Wellcome Institute in 1999/2000. Her research interests are 18th century London, Guy’s Hospital and the Caribbean, the Madhouse and Naval Medicine. Her paper on medical developments in Nelson’s navy was published in August 2004 in The Mariner’s Mirror, and Mr Guy’s Hospital and the Caribbean featured in History Today (June 2006). Jane has contributed regular reviews to the International Journal of Maritime History.
