Discuss-A-Vol: ADM 10/15 Commissioned Officers’ Service Register (1660-1685)

ADM 10/15 is yet another of the officer lists kept in the Admiralty documents. This list is an alphabetical list of all captains, lieutenants and flag officer who served between 1660 and 1685.  Further, at the end of the volume has an index, where you look up officers by name and find the page that they are on. Strangely however, the B page is not filled in, or is missing.

This is an excellent resource for researchers working with the Royal Navy in this period. it is written extremely clearly, and the text isn’t squished or cramped with minimal corrections and alterations. On some pages, text around the edges is a bit faded- for example with “Leonard Harrison” faded at the top of f61.
