The Editors of Global Maritime History would like to announce that we are starting a new series of blogs that will discuss academic process. We invite proposals to contribute to this series.
For this series, we invited academics from all disciplines to contribute to this discussion. This is not limited to those who study maritime topics. Generally, the process can be broken down into five stages
1) Identification of Questions/Topics
2) Performing Research
3) Performing Analysis
4) Creating Arguments
5) Communicating Arguments
There are other aspects as well, such as teaching, lecturing, being a student, collaborating with other academics, working across disciplines being just a few. ‘Academic Process’ should be broadly defined.
We invite all discussions of academic process. Whether it’s tips or tricks, lessons learned, discussions of your process, problems and approaches, interdisciplinary considerations, teaching process, or anything else. Practical and theoretical discussions of process are equally welcome. The editors believe that discussion of process is very important to multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary interactions and are of benefit to all.
If you are an established academic or independent researcher, an Early Career Researcher, Graduate student, Undergraduate students, please feel free to contact us and propose a blog entry.
As a rough guide, blogs should be approximately 1000 words. However, they can be longer or shorter. Also, we’re more than happy to help promote projects, blogs and other websites.
